Liberation of Aghdam

Aghdam was liberated on the 20th of November 2020 due the ongoing war between Azerbaijan and armenia. The war started on 27th of September as a result of armenians displaying huge aggression in the area. This confrontation between armenians and Azerbaijanis resulted in the second Karabagh war. 44 days later, a cease-fire deal was signed between Azerbaijan and armenia in which Azerbaijan came victorious by liberating Fizuli, Jabrayil, Ghubadli, Zangilan, Lachin, Kalbajar, Shusha and Aghdam districts.
Aghdam district was occupied by the Armenian forces in July 1993. Now liberated by the Azerbaijani forces, it is clearly seen that the armenians have destroyed every building in the district, thus people calling the ruined city "Hiroshima of the Caucasus". The city if Aghdam was liberated on the 20th of November 2020 and the human rights watch was invited to see the mass destruction Armenians had caused. Aghdam Juma mosque still stands to this day and it is planned to be refurbished by the Azerbaijani government. On the 23rd of November, Ilham Aliyev, the president of Azerbaijan and his wife Meriban Aliyeva visited the Aghdam Juma mosque to pay their respects. After 27 years, the call to prayer, or adhan was heard from the Aghdam mosque. The people of Azerbaijan gathered to the Alley of Martyrs to remember the martyrs and to celebrate the liberation of Aghdam which was illegaly occupied by the armenian forces for around 3 decades. The crowd showed emotions of happiness and delight as the occupation of Aghdam had finally been liberated and was no longer under armenian occupation.
