Karabagh is Azerbaijan, Gubadly is Azerbaijan!

GUBADLY

Gubadly region was established in 1933. It was abolished in 1963 and its territory was given to Zangilan district. In 1964, it resumed its activities as an independent district. The area of Gubadly region was 802 square meters, the population was 31,000 before the occupation. The district is located in the south-west of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It is a mountainous and foothill region. The highest point is Toragaj height. (2003 meters above sea level). The climate is temperate continental. The Hakari and Bargushad rivers flow through its territory.

Gubadly region borders with the Republic of Armenia at a distance of 120 km from the west, Lachin region, Hadrut region from the north, Jabrayil region from the east, and Zangilan region from the south. Most of the villages are located around the Hakari and Bargushad rivers. There are also villages in the mountains and foothills, surrounded by forests. Gubadly is also an agricultural region. Before the occupation, grain, grapes, tobacco, melons and gourds were produced here, and livestock was used. In recent years, industries have begun to occupy a place in the region's economy.

Gubadly is one of the ancient human settlements. Although this area has not been studied enough from the archeological point of view, traces of human activity remain in the natural caves and shelters here. Impenetrable rocks, fortifications built on steep cliffs, and the remains of watchtowers have survived to the present day. Ancient shrines and places of worship show the existence of permanent settlements in these places long before Islam. This is also confirmed by the ancient cemeteries of unknown history, examples of material household items and tools found near various settlements. Examples of material culture found show that agriculture and animal husbandry have been practiced in these places since ancient times. The monuments "Khirman Yeri", "Galacha", "Koroglu Galasi" and "Mal Tepe" found in Gubadly city, Aliguluushagi village and Muradkhanli village belong to the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages.

Although the fortifications left on the impassable steep rocks in the territory of Saray, Poladli, Khojamsakhli, Chardakhli villages belong to VII-IX centuries, in fact, these fortifications were built in BC. It is part of a system of unified guard posts along the border separating the states of Atropatena and Albania in the first century. Gubadly gave prominent personalities to the history of Azerbaijan. Two of the national heroes of Azerbaijan are the fugitive Nabi and Hajar from Gubadly region.

Academician Mohbali Amiraslanov, General Valeh Barshadli, Hero of Socialist Labor, People's Writer Suleyman Rahimov, who made a significant contribution to Azerbaijani science, martial arts and literature in the last century, are the children of Gubadly.

In general, there are 2 academicians, 24 doctors of sciences, 4 generals, 6 Heroes of Socialist Labor, originally from Gubadly.

The secular school opened in Gubadly in the 19th century played an important role in the development of intellectuals who gained a certain place in the cultural life of Azerbaijan. A two-class Russian-Tatar school, popularly called Hasan Bey's School (Hasan Bey was originally from Gubadly, died at a young age), was opened in Gubadly in 1882.

Occupation of Gubadly

Gubadly region was occupied on August 31, 1993 as a result of a large-scale attack by Armenian troops. The city of Gubadly and 93 villages of the region came under the control of Armenian forces, and more than 31,000 people were expelled from their homes. In the last century, Gubadly was repeatedly attacked by the Armenian occupation forces. (1915, 1918, 1920) During this period, along with Zangazur, the villages of Gubadly were burned and the civilian population was deprived of their lives. However, despite all the difficulties and sufferings, every time the occupying Armenian troops were expelled from our lands. Since 1988, aggressive attacks have been launched on both sides of the Gubadly region, which borders Armenia (120 km) and Nagorno-Karabakh (45 km), and systematic terror against the civilian population has continued. During the 5-year war, which lasted until the end of August 1993, 238 people were killed in Gubadly region. Nine of them were posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

After the occupation of Lachin, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Jabrayil regions, Gubadly region, which became a de facto semi-siege, was occupied by Armenian aggressor forces on August 30-31, 1993. As a result of the Armenian occupation, more than 30,000 Gubadly residents were expelled from their homes and settled as IDPs in two cities and regions of the country. Private and public property worth $ 1.2 billion (in 1993 prices) was looted and destroyed by the Armenian occupiers. Armenians burned and looted 205 cultural and household objects and 12 historical monuments in Gubadly. Before the occupation, there were 21 secondary, 15 eight-year, 15 primary schools and 7 preschools in Gubadly with a population of 33,800.

After occupation, despite all this, Azerbaijan had always tried to solve the conflict peacefully. But in return Armenian people had always shown their agression with attacking civilians and military positions. Armenia had always lied that Karabakh belonged to itself and tried to believe people to this lie. But Azerbaijani people had known the truth and they had also known that they return their own lands soon. And this day came after 27 years.

Liberation of Gubadly

Between 27 September and 10 November Armenia and Azerbaijan fought the second major war over the Nagorno-Karabakh region and surrounding districts of Azerbaijan which had been occupied by Armenia in the wake of the First Karabakh War in the early 1990s. The 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war was an armed conflict between Azerbaijan, supported by Turkey, and the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh together with Armenia, in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. It was the latest escalation of an unresolved conflict over the region, which is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, but partially governed by Artsakh, a breakaway state with an Armenian ethnic majority. On October 23, Zilanli, Kurd Mahrizli, Muganli and Alagurshag villages of Gubadly region were liberated from occupation. And on October 25, Gubadly region was liberated by Azerbaijanian armies. Then other occupied territories began to be liberated during the war. And finally. But during the war, Armenian troops attack civilian people many times and as a result a lot of civilian people were killed and wounded in Gandja and Barda.

The war resulted in a devastating defeat of Armenia whose leaders conceded to sign the Russia-brokered ceasefire agreement and committed to withdraw Armenian armed forces from the Azerbaijani territories by 1 December 2020. Addressing the nation immediately after signing the agreement in a video-conference with Russias President Vladimir Putin on 10 November, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan declared victory and congratulated his citizens on the restoration of Azerbaijans territorial integrity. Although even now some countries dont accept our victory, everyone must now that the truth and must accept it. Karabakh was always a part of Azerbaijan and will always be a part of it!
